We assist our clients in minimising the risks of damage of post-tension cables and various other services that are concealed within the concrete slab or various other reinforced concrete elements. In addition, we carry out scans to assist Engineers in design checks for building alterations and additional loading.
We utilise radar, ultrasonic, and electromagnetic scanners. We have been the first organisation in South Africa to own the Hilti PS 1000 X-Scan. This units allows as to produce real time 2D and 3D scans of concrete to detect the following objects in concrete up to 300mm depth:
- Post-tension cables, voids, plastic, electrical conduits and other services using Hilti PS 1000 X-Scan
- Reinforcing bars size, spacing, depth using Hilti PS200
Scans are also done before drilling or coring. Cutting and coring through post cables, pipes or reinforcing must be avoided as this is costly to repair and has a major structural implication.
